My 1967 Ford Galaxie Custom 500 is the third Ford vehicle I have owned, and also the second classic car I have owned. This car was most likely purchased by someone who wanted the luxury of a full size Ford without paying for it at the pump. Original equipment on the car consists of a 240ci I-6, 3sp auto C4 tranny with the column shifter, manual drum brakes, and manual steering. However, the car has since been converted to pwr steering(hooray!). I have big plans for this car that I hope to share as I complete the project.

The Mustang Project

There are holes in my introduction ( or maybe i’m confusing those holes with the ones in the car, if you know what I mean! ) This 1966 Mustang was nobody’s dream car. It didn’t run, it didn’t stop, it had holes in the floor, trunk, fenders, quarters…just about everywhere actually! But was I worried? Of course not! I was 16 years old and full of determination. I slowly learned the hard way that determination alone does not pay for new parts, or give me the experience necessary to work on the car.

I worked on the car all through high school and my first year of college. I replaced brake parts, fuel parts, engine parts, interior parts…but it still needed more work to run! So…after spending $3000 in parts and still getting nowhere, I decided it was time to sell. I put it up for sale and it generated lots of interest but no one actually wanted to pay for it. Apparently the whole world wants everything for practically free. Instead of getting paid for it in money, I traded for it. One Ford for another! I traded for a 1967 Ford Galaxie Custom 500. Hence the name of the blog!!!

In the beginning…

It started with big aspirations and a pocket full of cash burnin’ a hole in my pocket. A 16 year old boy who just couldn’t wait to have that cool car to drive to school and make all the other guys drool. That particular boy was me, and that particular car happened to be a 1966 Ford Mustang. Sounds pretty nice right? Wrong!
